LED-UV Light Disinfection System
The LED-UV Disinfection Light Overview
Gilero developed a disinfection device, which is used forproperly disinfecting certain types of probes in between procedures by using LED Ultraviolet (UV) light. The UV lightsystem is designed to hold the probe within a chamber for a specified amount of time and uses LED UV light to dose and disinfect the surface of the probe. The internal walls of the chamber are designed to reflect light waves and particles back toward the probe to ensure efficient exposure cycles.
Our LED-UV Disinfection System Development Process
One of Gilero’s photonic engineering experts, who was a part of the ElectroMechanical engineering team that selected the appropriate LEDs, did PCB layout, and created prototypes, also performed multiple proof of concept experiments (physically and simulated) to provide further evidence of the efficacy of this device and the use of LED’s. The physical experiments entailed using Petri dishes to grow bacteria and mold, both of which were eliminated by the LED UV light disinfecting procedure, demonstrating a 6 log reduction in contaminants.
